Job Purpose

    • To provide secretarial and administrative support functions within the department under the direction of the Head of Department and under the direction of other Fee Earners to whom responsibility has been delegated. Such secretarial and administrative support will be for the purpose of ensuring efficiency and sustainability within the department is maintained and enhanced.
    • To assist in progressing matters undertaken by Fee Earners on behalf of clients in a cost-effective manner under the supervision of other Fee Earners within the department within capabilities and in accordance with legal qualifications.



Key Responsibilities

  • To work as part of an effective team member within the department
  • To deal with client enquiries and cases in a timely and courteous manner
  • To provide typing and administrative support, photocopying, encryption of CDs as required to include but not limited to correspondence, attendance notes, court documentations, fulfilment of accounting and financial functions
  • To cover Reception duties
  • To work in accordance with Firm and Departmental Manuals and office procedures and external validation accreditation such as LEXCEL
  • To arrange and attend conferences with counsel as necessary
  • To interview and advise clients as necessary to progress the case of the client. Such client contact being either face to face, by telephone or by correspondence
  • To maintain such departmental databases as requested
  • To maintain client confidentiality as required for members of the legal profession
  • To maintain confidentiality as to the working practices and documentation of the firm

Knowledge and Experience

    • Excellent keyboard skills with a good knowledge of Outlook, Word & TFB.
    • Dynamic in approach and uses initiative when dealing with clients or potential clients.
    • A positive approach to customer service.
    • Ability to be a team player and flexible outlook.
    • Efficiency to deal with awkward situations and difficult clients in a professional manner.
    • Ability to remain discreet and always maintain employee and client confidentiality.
